Hi, I'm Malerie
It can be difficult navigating this world. We’re asked to show up in every aspect of our lives. Our job needs us, our family needs us, our house needs us, our pet needs us and everything else needs us. Most of all, we need ourselves. We need our own attention. To tend to our pain, our wounds, our stressors, emotions and imbalances. Those that are big, small, chronic or acute
When we tend to ourselves, we can give and receive more fully. It is my mission to assist you in this process through the practical and natural healing modalities found within eastern and western medicine.
"After the first acupuncture treatment I slept soundly and felt more refreshed in the mornings."
When I began seeing Malerie I was having a difficult time sleeping and felt fatigued all day everyday. Everyday felt overwhelming and it was a struggle to be present. After the first acupuncture treatment I slept soundly and felt more refreshed in the mornings. After 5 treatments I noticed the feeling of overwhelm was no longer an issue. I am more productive in my everyday life and I enjoy going to work again; I feel more like myself. During my appointments with Malerie I felt that she really understood the difficulty I was having with the insomnia and anxiety. She is a wonderful listener, the treatments were gentle, and this combination has truly made a difference in my life. I am very grateful!

"Malerie is a deeply grounded healer"
I have been a “patient” of Malerie’s throughout her education, which she builds upon daily, months after graduation. Malerie is well-respected by her teachers and those who were learning along side her. Malerie is a deeply grounded healer and I highly recommend her skill, her wisdom, and her authenticity.

"Malerie quickly created a calming, peaceful, and safe atmosphere for healing."
Its an early morning Monday morning and someone brings you an amazing cup of caffeination and you say “Oh my god, you’re a lifesaver”…..that’s Malerie and acupuncture! I started working with her almost a year ago and during that time she has definitely improved my outlook and quality of life. I suffered a traumatic brain injury while stationed overseas and before receiving acupuncture, I had daily migraine-like headaches for 6 years. Not only did the weekly treatments totally eliminate the headaches, Malerie was able to address many of my PTSD symptoms and other physical injuries as well.
I am quite particular about my health care providers. Having a background in emergency medicine and being treated by well over 50 providers in the military after my injuries, I am very quick to judge and dismiss providers. Malerie has always taken the time to actually listen to me and allow me the time to fully describe what’s going on with my body. She never assumed what I was trying to say or rushed the intake, always asked what I wanted to work on, and checked in regularly with me to ensure her treatment plan was working for me. She provided feedback and answered any questions I had throughout each session. Even though it’s a work in progress for me, Malerie has also thought me that “suck it up and just deal with the pain” is not the appropriate way to live in the civilian world!
Having been though too many other procedures and treatments(including other acupuncturists) where I did not trust the practitioner nor feel safe, Malerie quickly created a calming, peaceful, and safe atmosphere for healing. She is a very adaptable, compassionate, and awesome practitioner!

Live a Life of Wonder, Fulfillment, and Health
My story begins with the first sentence of this page. I was having difficulty navigating this world. I was showing up for everyone and everything that needed me. It all got a piece of me before I did. As a result, I came to recognize a deep sadness. The occasional yoga class and night out with friends were routine and unfulfilling. My 9a-5p corporate job left me bored and curious about a better life. Whatever “better” actually meant.
Beyond feeling unfulfilled and bored, I also began to recognize other issues. I was addicted to sugar. As a result, I suffered from headaches. I also experienced menstrual, back, and joint pain. Emotional and spiritual losses were also a part of my experience. My body was stressed and I did not want all that pain anymore.
I was ready to run away. Anywhere but where I was had to be better. While basked in my woes, a wise woman told me, “where ever you go there you are.” In that phrase and in that moment, I realized I didn’t really want to run away. I wanted space and time to run towards myself. To give back to me. To feel full of life again.
So, the scavenger hunt began. What was going to fulfill me? What did I need? The answer I came to find, was to help others. I was devastated. This was the opposite of what I wanted. My world was difficult to navigate because I was giving all the time.
I spent weeks denying the answer. Then I started to understand. The deep desire to help and give back was a strength. It’s what I’m good at. It's what I love and it's what I am passionate about.
By chance and definitely curiosity, I found an education. One that would teach me to give back while also gifting me with its medicine. I connected with its practicality, ancient wisdom, and modern science and application.
During the five years I attended Chinese Medical School, I gave back to myself more than I ever had. In between 40 hours of class time and working part-time, I received care from multiple physicians of Chinese Medicine. From their work and my own willingness to give back to myself, I was able to move beyond my sugar addiction, headaches, menstrual pain, back pain, stress, joint pain, and emotional and spiritual loss.
In between then and now, I’ve learned that to wonder about ourselves is the greatest gift we can give to ourselves. It is the gateway to fulfillment and health.

I am a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (Dipl. OM) and Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac).
I received my Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Daoist Traditions in Asheville, NC. During my time as an intern at Daoist Traditions College Clinic, I completed over 860 hours of clinical practice where I treated more than 400 patients suffering from acute and chronic issues. Additionally, throughout the four-year program, I completed classes in Western Medicine, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, Essential Oils and Qi Gong.
One of the most valuable aspects of my education was the opportunity to study under the guidance of several seasoned practitioners including Master Jeffrey Yuen, an 88th generation Daoist priest.
