Research Based Evidence on sleep

Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are two tools that have been used to aid in sleep. This 2012 study demonstrated that acupuncture can improve sleep in postmenopausal women. The woman in this study suffered from insomnia and received treatment over a five-week period.

An earlier study published in 1999, also concluded the effectiveness of acupuncture in insomnia patients. Each patient was diagnosed according to Traditional Chinese Medicine and treated by a practitioner within three to five sessions.

Most recently in 2017, a study was published that evaluated the data of clinical studies and pharmacological research on popular Chinese herbal formulas and single Chinese herbs used for insomnia. The results concluded similar chemical components needed to help us sleep. High five for plant medicine!

As always, thank you for being here and stay curious,
